Our goal is for you to have fun & get as fit as possible. Our motto is “FUN WITH BENEFITS”! We strongly recommend discussing your fitness activities with your doctor before engaging in a new program of any kind. Please be sure to bring water in a closed container & a towel for personal use.
Wear comfortable clothing that makes you feel good, appropriate for your class, & won’t get in your way (or someone else’s) when you move. Avoid the use of heavy fragrance & always choose appropriate footwear for your activity.
Comfortable shoes with good support, cushioning & non-marking soles will be appropriate for most of our dance classes. Bare feet will be allowed for yoga, pilates, meditation & some belly/tribal/hula dance classes.
ABOUT JAN KAIN
Jan-smiling Jan began her career as a professional dancer at the age of ten while studying ballet at George Balanchine’s famous School of American Ballet. She appeared in several shows on & off Broadway, & danced with the NYC Ballet, & then branched out into modern jazz. She then decided on college & became a registered nurse, working in just about every facet of hospital & home health nursing.
While raising her family, she returned to teaching dance exercise & fitness, & then went on to earn her Masters Degree & Doctorate in Public Health. Prevention, health & wellness have always been very important to Jan. She believes that is the key to a better quality of life & it’s never too early or too late to start. She served the fitness community for nearly 30 years, teaching group fitness in just about every fitness genre, as well as personal training, managing group fitness for a major health club chain, &, as a master trainer, training other instructors & trainers.
For about the last 5 years, Jan has worked 7 days a week trying to save as much as possible for “the dream” of opening her own studio where she could service the community, teaching health & wellness & supporting other teachers in their life’s work.
“The People’s Yoga, Health & Dance” may be my dream, but it is a collaboration, a collective of many. No man is an island & there is no way I could have accomplished this project without the support from my fantastic students, clients, instructors, family & friends. Without you, “the people”, People’s Yoga, Health & Dance could not exist! You have inspired me to be a better person as well as a better teacher & athlete & have been with me through so much!
A special thank you goes to my best friend, Ralph, for helping me create the name for my company, & for all his faith, support & tragic comedy. Miriam Litman assisted me with just about everything during the pre-opening preparations. Many new people have come into my life since our opening & have worked so hard to help with so much while expecting so little. Michael Gatanz is one incredible human-he wears many hats at Peep’s Studio, & is starting to play a very important role in San Pedro business development.
My instructors & staff are so amazingly talented & bring so much knowledge & expertise to everything they do & teach. I feel very blessed to have them on my team as part of this wonderful fitness community. You all rock & I thank you all so much!
